Connecting rod

The connecting rod (also known as a conrod) is a fundamental component of internal combustion engines, connecting the piston to the crankshaft. Its main function is to convert the linear motion of the piston into rotational motion, thereby transmitting the movement to the crankshaft. It is subjected to high loads, as both tensile and compressive forces act upon it. To reduce friction between the connecting rod and its associated components, connecting rod bearings are present in both the upper and lower ends of the connecting rod.

Connecting rods are typically made from strong and durable materials, most often forged steel, to withstand high loads and heat.

The connecting rod is extremely important for the engine's operation. If it fails, it can cause serious damage to other engine components and even lead to a complete engine failure.
